Best & Worst of the Golden Globes 2012

On Sunday night annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. As the 2012 award season gets underway, the Golden Globes is the first chance for Hollywood's elite to set the red carpet trends for the upcoming year. Big winners 'The Descendants' and 'The Artist' took home multiple statues, but the awards for Best & Worst dressed are a whole other story. Take a look at my Golden Globes 2012 night's style winners and losers ...

Best

♥ The ever stunning Charlize Theron chose a slit-up-to-there Christian Dior Couture gown with an elegant bow in the front!

♥ Nicole Richie sparkled in a glittering column gown by Julien Macdonald and matched it with a clutch by her own label, House of Harlow.

♥ Love Heidi Klum’s simple (but with sexy open back) nude Calvin Klein dress. She accessorised it perfectly with beautiful turquoise jewellery to saves her Calvin Klein gown from being a washout!

♥ Angelina Jolie looked very elegant. The Atelier Versace dress could not have fit her better, and the red splash across the top made it stand out from other white and off-white gowns on the carpet.

♥ Salma Hayek oozed sex appeal in a strapless Gucci gown..

♥ Keeping her style simple, yet utterly elegant, Kate Beckinsale wowed in a stunning blush Roberto Cavalli chiffon and lace gown.   
♥ Best Actress in a Television Drama winner Claire Danes looked amazing in this black and white J. Mendel gown. An interestingly constructed dress plus the low-cut back made it an absolute winner in my books!   
♥ Evan Rachel Wood looked glamorous in sequined Gucci dress with real feathers on the bottom of the skirt. She looks a bit like a cross between a mermaid and a bird…but in a good way ;) It’s probably not something I would wear but it perfectly suits Evan Rachel Wood’s Hollywood glamour/gothic style.    
♥ Emma Stone showed off a modern way to wear red; with her maroon and fuchsia pleated Lanvin gown matched with a funky jewelled eagle belt buckle. I think she looked like a fashion superhero!

Worst

♦ I’m not a fan of Amanda’s tiered Marc Jacobs dress; too much ruffle and it looks a bit like the dress was made out of her grandma’s curtains?

♦ Natalie Portman seems to be channelling Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen prefer blondes here haha. I love the colours of the Lanvin gown but perhaps after you've recently lost a ton of baby weight this isn’t the most flattering of outfits…

♦ Kelly Osbourne doesn’t shine for me in this ill-fitting, pointy-shouldered Zac Posen dress. Wonder if she'll make her own ‘Fashion Police’ show's Worst Dressed List?

♦ Sarah Michelle Gellar said that her two-year-old daughter Charlotte picked out her tie-dye-style Monique Lhuillier gown. Just too much…I think the look would have been far more successful with a plain fabric!

♦ Jessica Biel in a long sleeve Ellie Saab dress. This gown looks a bit like it could be her grandmother's wedding dress from 1934? Jessica is so beautiful and I think something more modern and striking would have been more age appropriate :)

♦ Michelle Williams looks cute and quirky in this Jason Wu gown but for me the blue velvet dress is a bit too matronly and slightly boring..(Sorry I know lots of people loved this dress!)

♦ ‘Glee’ star Lea Michelle in an embroidered Marchesa illusion dress. Again she was on a lot of people’s best dressed list but it just didn’t do it for me!

♦ Giuliana Rancic arrived in a floor-length grey and black Monique Collignon gown which is simply unflattering. Nuf-said ;)

♦ Madonna disappointed in a cluttered green and pewter Reem Acra ballgown.

Best & Worst - Primetime Emmy's 2011=

The stars were out to celebrate the best of television at the 2011 Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre on Sunday (September 18) in Los Angeles. Here are my Best & Worst Picks of the red carpet!

Best

From left to right:

♥ Lea Michele, from Glee, in a stunning red dress with a low-draped back and rosette sleeves by Marchesa. The colour suits her beautifully & I adore the (slightly sexy) low back and shoulder detailing!!
♥ Julia Stiles went for a soft, feminine look in a strapless lilac gown by Georges Hobeika Couture. 

The dress fits her like a glove and the lace in this light colour matched with soft side swept hair and subtle jewellery just screams elegance. 

♥ Kelly Osbourne stepped out in a J. Mendel gown looking sophisticated and gorgeous. I am not normally a fan of her style but have to say the last 6 months or so she's been looking really good! The colour and shape of this dress really show off her amazing new figure! Not 100% sure on the strange hair colour plus a shame about the tattoo's but I still think she looked fab.

♥ Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara looks incredible in a curve-hugging coral one-shouldered crepe custom made gown by Vera Wang. She finished off the look with large striking emerald earrings. Love the colour, love the dress, love it all :)

On the fence...

I can't quite make my mind up on Gwyneth's outfit for the Emmys. She definitely shows off her amazing toned body in this black sparkly lace belly-baring dress by Pucci. I like it but then am also not sure on the exposed midriff section for such a glamorous event. Her hair and makeup is perfection however! Gwyn topped her daring dress with black and white 7 carat diamond earrings and two platinum and diamond bracelets totaling 100 carats and a ring of 5 carats - jealous much?! Hmm final decision, overall I think.....yes she pulls it off! Gwyneth, a hit or miss; what do you think?

Worst

From left to right:

★ Julianna Marguiles won Outstanding Actress for her role in The Good Wife but unfortunately she lost out on the red carpet! Stiff, old fashioned and bridal in Armani Privé. 

★ Heidi Klum in a gown designed by previous Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Too much ruffles for my liking. Heidi is so stunning and think this dress doesn't do anything for her amazing figure. 

★ Phoebe Price is one of those strange Hollywood girls who somehow gets invited to all these events despite the fact that no one knows who she is. Her floral dress looks like it was made out of her grandma's curtains and don't even get me started on the feathered fascinator or her makeup! 

★ Paz de la Huerta looked just TERRIBLE, was she deliberately trying to get on the worst dressed list or something? The dress itself isn't that bad but her overall look is just wacky, she looks like a zombie! I mean check out that crazy bird nest hairdo and the bizarre over-bronzed face makeup with grey (?) lipstick.  Total FAIL...

★ Katie Holmes looked a little too boring and casual for my liking in this ill-fitting cobalt Calvin Klein Collection dress by Francisco Costa. It almost looks as though she'd put it on back to front ;)

Teen Choice 2011 Awards =

On Sunday, August 7th, 2011 the Teen Choice Awards took place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. It was a night of hot teens, rockstars and heart throbs!
Here are quickly some of my favourite looks that rocked the ‘blue’ carpet!

♥ Rachel Bilson looked uh-mazing in a Chloé Resort 2012 collection dress matched with studded Brian Atwood booties. Love the mix of pretty vs edgy!
♥ Blake Lively showed off her gorgeous figure in a tight & bright dress from the Gucci Resort 2012 collection matched with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
♥ Kendall Jenner (the little sister of Kim Kardashian) star looked all grown up in an Aurelio Costarella dress, YSL shoes & a Kotur clutch. Think she will do well in the modelling world, she's very stunning.

♥ Cat Deeley showed off her beautiful gams with a long-sleeved, embellished turquoise shift.
♥ Kaley Cuoco, the Big Bang Theory actress (who hosted the show) in a Rebecca Taylor dress and Neil Lane jewels. Especially loved her hair and makeup.

♥ Selena Gomez rocked an Erin Fetherston dress and fellow fellow Disney star Demi Lovato brightened up the carpet in a BCBG Max Azria dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Demi's 'mullet' style dress (dress that is long in the back in short in the front) is THE trend of this season. Not sure if I am a fan of this trend yet; sometimes I like it (as in Demi's dress) and other times I think it can look a little odd.

On another note, it is Happy Hump Day!!

Today's quote is inspired by all the madness that has been going on in London since Sunday!
The looting, riots and violence around the streets is just so selfish, painful and scary to see :( I live in the Clapham area of London and the Clapham Junction streets were vandalised the other night (I didn't get much sleep - kept up by sirens and helicopters) and I know people that have personally been affected by the violence. All I can say is, I hope Karma is a bitch to all the people that are looting and causing harm and destruction to innocent people! Shame SHAME on you!

Best & Worst: Oscars 2011

Last night the 83rd Annual Academy Awards were held the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. It's one of the biggest events of the year in Hollywood & I am always very keen to see what all the big stars choose to wear to this glamorous event. As usual - here are my best & worst picks! 

Best

♥ Gwyneth Palthrow shines a Calvin Klein Collection column dress and finished off her look with earrings, a brooch, and a ring from Louis Vuitton’s jewellery collection: L’Ame du Voyage. Gwyneth is one of my style icons! She just wears clothes so well. This metallic Calvin Klein Collection gown really was made for her. Stunning!
♥ Cate Blanchett in a Givency Couture dress with beautiful yellow detailing on the black along with Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. Cate is never afraid to make a bold fashion choice. She definitely wore the most controversial dress of the night. Some people hated it, some people loved it. It's so different & not really 'me' but in some way I just LOVED it! She wears this dress so well & manages to look amazingly soft and pretty! Plus hair & makeup were perfect. She just blew me away, my absolute favourite of the night! :) 

♥ Reese Witherspoon wore a black & white Giorgio Armani Privé evening gown with Neil Lane jewellery. The strapless dress features a white silk band at the neckline and a subtle train. In some way the dress reminded me a little of the gown Julia Roberts wore to the 2001 Oscars. But have to say, Reese looked glowing, elegant and loved the retro ponytail!

♥ Michelle Williams in a white beaded Chanel Haute Couture gown. It took me a while to decide on this outfit but in the end have to say I do like it! It's soft, pretty and suits Michelle's style & short hair.

♥ Sandra Bullock is red HOT in Vera Wang. I know this is a simple look and not very 'stand out' but she looks beautiful & I plainly love Sandy so just had to put her on the best dressed list :)

♥ Mila Kunis showcased her smoking body in this racy yet tasteful lavender chiffon gown with tiered lace detailing by Elie Saab haute couture. The colour looks so amazing on her and yes it's a little 'boobie-ish' (haha is that even a word...) but I think she can pull it off and still look classy!

♥ Hilary Swank in a Gucci Premiere couture strapless floor length evening gown. Think the glittery feather trail and silver/blue ombre features on this dress are stunning! 

♥ Halle Berry looks like a dream in a nude and crystal encrusted Marchesa corset gown with organza and silk tulle ruffles and Christian Louboutin heels.

Worst

♥ Nicole Kidman in a Dior dress with a rare 19th century diamond Riviere necklace from Fred Leighton and Pierre Hardy shoes. Nicole told Hollyscoop that her daughter Sunday Rose picked out her outfit, which was cute, but clearly a mistake ;)

♥ Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana. I have very mixed feelings about this look. I liked the (open) back of the dress, I liked her messy hair and loved her rusty eye makeup.....But  I didn't love the colour on her and the front transparent part of the dress looked a little odd. Plus in some photos it looked as if her black underwear & bra were showing in that dress. So in the end, she's on my worst dressed. Sorry!

♥ Melissa Leo, a real red carpet disappointment. She wore a white, lace/cut-out dress with an ultra-reflecting fabric underlay by Marc Bouwer. It looks too big, bulky & square on her & the mix of fabrics...a BIG NO!

♥ Emma Stone at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party held at the Sunset Tower Hotel on Sunday. Emma wore a Chanel Haute Couture dress and Salvatore Ferragamo Heels. I know this is not from the actual Oscars Red Carpet but spotted this outfit & it just HAD to be on my worst dressed list! C'mon what on earth is she wearing and oh my gosh what did she do to her hair!! Did she try to cut her own fringe? Am lost for words. She looked so amazing at the Golden Globes & am just shocked & disappointed with this look :(

♥ Penelope Cruz has only just given birth to a little baby boy and I have to say her body looked amazing, but unfortunately I can't say the same for her dress.  The embroidered L'wren Scott dress looked kind of cheap.....
♥Amy Adams in a dress by L'Wren Scott matched with jewellery by Cartier. Don't think the dress is that bad (dont love it either) but the main thing I didn't like was the way she wore her accessories with it. The green pendant just didn’t work well with the neckline and the blue!

♥Marisa Tomei in a 1950 couture Charles James dress from Lily et Cie. Oh where to begin! It looks OK until you scroll down and see the lower half of her dress. It looks as if an amateur seamstress worked on the bottom part on to the dress last minute. Didn't like her hair either. Big fail....
♥Jennifer Lawrence in a Calvin Klein Collection dress made for her by designer Francisco Costa. OK there is nothing wrong with this dress. She is a beautiful woman and she looks very sexy! But, I think she looks boring! I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this one, but I just think, she's a first time nominee and this was her time to shine! She looked beautiful....but a little boring!

Award wise, thought the Oscars were quite predictable this year - pretty much knew who was going to walk away with a little gold statue. Am glad that Natalie Portman won though, she truly deserved it! :)

Best & Worst: BAFTA's 2011

Today the 2011 BAFTA's were held at the Royal Opera House in London! The big winners of the night were 'The Kings Speech' (7 awards), 'The Social Network' (3 awards) & 'Inception' (3 awards). I wasn't too impressed with the fashion choices for this event but still quickly wanted to share my best & worst picks!

Best

Worst

Hailee Steinfeld (14 year-old) chose a black jewelled Miu Miu dress court shoes by Jimmy Choo.

It seems like people are loving this look but it's not really me and I simply don't like it...sorry!

Jennifer Lawrence chose a low-cut number by Stella McCartney. Its a stunning dress but something about it on her makes me not like it. I think the corset part of the dress just doesn't sit quite right on her plus I hate the ribbon choker, haven't seen those since the 90s (and for a reason...)!

Emma Watson in Valentino. 

Love the body of the dress and the lace but think the ruffle finish neckline is just a bit OTT. 

Harry Potter author J K Rowling in Lanvin. Unflattering...

Minnie Driver in an Alice Temperley gown. Think it looks cheap with the embellishments under the bust and that white feathery monstrosity is equally as tacky looking.

Best & Worst - 2011 SAG Awards=

The 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday in Los Angeles.
The King’s Speech came out as the big winner of the night with two awards. The film picked up Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for Colin Firth.  Other winners in the evening included Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Betty White, and Alec Baldwin. Sharing my quick best & worst picks from the Red Carpet!

Best

January Hones wore a gorgeous Caroline Herrera Dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Roger Vivier shoes, and a Tod’s bag. She looks so glamous, hollywood and I love the hair and makeup-perfectly styled!

Natalie Portman is back on my best dressed list – yay! Finally she's wearing a gorgeous frock showing off her newly pregnant belly! She’s wearing an Azzaro’s “Jungle” gown plus apparently $2 million worth of Tiffany & Co. jewellery! (jealous much?)

Mila Kunis. The 27-year-old Black Swan actress chose an Alexander McQueen Resort 2011 strapless chiffon gown. It’s from the same collection as the dress Michelle Obama recently wore. Wasn’t such a fan of that dress but LOVE this one and the sultry curls and make up really complete this look!

Lea Michelle. The 24-year-old Glee actress chose an Oscar de la Renta blush crepe de chine caviar bead embroidered gown, Sergio Rossi shoes, Tiffany & Co. jewels, and a Daniel Swarovski bag. The dress fits Lea's petite frame beautifully and the thin, gold belt compliments the silvery-white dress wonderfully.

Worst

Kate Mara (pictured with boyfriend Max Minghella). The 27-year-old 127 Hours actress wore a nude dress that's Hervé Léger up top, but very Valentino on the bottom — it's a mash up of body con meets romantic ruffles? This Hervé Leger dress is quite pretty but don't think it's suited to Kate. Plus, I think that the colour washes her out too much and that headband is just awful.

Winona Ryder in a white strapless gown by Alberta Ferretti.
If you think (like me) that this dress is very bridal, well that's because it is! This gown is from the Spring 2011 Bridal collection.....There's something just not quite right about this look. Don't love the dress & think the high curly up-do isn't sophisticated enough for the dress.
Kim Kardashian. Kim is wearing a plum draped chiffon gown with embroidered detail by Marchesa. The Grecian style gown was way off the mark. And think the hair looks horrible and her makeup looks washed out. Am surprised with this look because I’m normally quite a fan of Kim’s red carpet style..

Christina Hendricks. This L'Wren Scott dress, while gorgeous, I feel does nothing for Christina's lovely curves :(

Golden Globes 2011 - Best & Worst

Last night the 2011 Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. As you all know I love seeing celebs on the red carpet, looking all glammed up and fabulous! Here are my best and worst picks of the event!

Best

Anne Hathaway in an amber tone Giorgio Armani Privé evening gown. This dress featured in the finale of the Fall Winter 2010-2011 couture collection. It's fully embellished with paillettes and Swarovski crystals. The dress features dramatic shoulders, long fitted sleeves and a low open back. Think she looks STUNNING!

Emma Stone looks peachy perfect in Calvin Klein matched with Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. This the first photo's I have seen of her blonde and I think it really suits her. I know the dress is very simple but she looks so polished and effortlessly glamorous!

Sandra Bullock can not do a lot wrong in my eyes! She's is wearing a flowy soft nude/pink dress by Jenny Packham. I love the sparkly detailing on the dress and think her make up is so gorgeous. The perfect subtle smokey eye with nude lips! However as much as I adore her new bangs think this outfit would have looked better with an up-do. ps: the rumour is that Sandra is now dating Ryan Reynolds....Hmmm I don't really believe this rumour & I think they are just close friends but she's probably one of the only girls I'd be happy for him to end up with LOL! ;)

Mila Kunis, the Black Swan actress, in a Vera Wang dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Judith Leiber clutch and Yves Saint Laurent shoes. I think the green colour of this outfit is fantastic. Like the up-do and the simple jewellery to make her dress the main 'wow' factor of her look!

Worst

Jennifer Love Hewitt with boyfriend Alex Beh. Jennifer wore a Romona Keveza dress with Casadei shoes. She also wore a Jennifer Behr belt, a Sang A clutch, three Le Vian rings and bracelet. Don't really like anything about this dress, think the top part is strange and it's too white and wedding like! Also when watching the red carpet show on E! she looked super duper orange! Overdose on fake tan...

Helena Bonham Carter in a Vivienne Westwood floral print gown. No real explanation needed...I know she has a quirky and indiviual style but this dress and then the MISMATCHED shoes? Ok....NO!

Michelle Williams in a gown by Valentino paired with heels by Christian Louboutin and jewelry by Fred Leighton. A lot of people may dissagree with me on this one but sorry but just don't dig this dress.....I like her cute pixie hair &bright coral lippie but the flowers on that dress and the shoulder straps? Just not quite my style or something I'd ever wear.

Angelina Jolie in a long sleeves emerald green gown encrusted with Swarovski crystals by Atelier Versace, Ferragamo shoes, and Robert Procop jewels. (Brad suited up in a Tom Ford tux) Again a lot of people may dissagree with me here. I really liked how she chose to wear colour for a change and the green made her eyes 'pop' but I didn'tlike the fabric & look of the dress when you saw it in upclose pictures, it kind of reminded me of christmassy pailette fabric. 

Other not-so-hot picks: Natalie Portman, Christina Aguilera, Julia Stiles, Jennifer Lopez & Tina Fey.

People's Choice Awards 2011

The 2011 Award Season kicked of this week as the People's Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles. Signs of spring were in the air as celebs lined the red (actually it was blue..) carpet in a variety of beautiful and breezy shades (nudes, pastels, sparkly and golds were in abundance), patterns and styles. Short seemed to be the way to go this awards show! Here's a few pictures of the night with my Best & Worst picks:

Malin Akerman in a white J.Mendel dress. I know this outfit is super simple but just really like the winter white short dress combined with the red shoes and clutch. Also think her hair and MakeUp looks glowing & lovely! 

Taylor Swift in a soft, peach colored illusionary-inset J. Mendel dress (from the Spring 2011 collection). 

Really pretty! Think she needed a bit of magic tape to keep this look together but she looks polished & classy as always. Loving the red lip with this outfit. Not so much - the shoes...?

Ok I admit it, I don't really even know who this is! But apparently she's an actress called Virginia Williams. She wore a stunning beaded pale pink Oday Shakar dress. Beautiful & I think the shoes are perfect match for this outfit and love it that she put her hair up in a classy high poofy ponytail to show off the amazing back of the dress - thumbs up!

All the Kardashians Sisters rocked the red carpet together! HOT ♥
Kim is wearing a Malandrino dress, a Rina Limor necklace, Amrapali earrings & a Chanel clutch.  

Kourtney is wearing a Gert-Johan Coetzee dress & a Swarovski clutch. 

Khloe is wearing an Alexander McQueen dress.

Kendall is wearing a Bebe dress & Kylie is wearing a Wink dress. 

All girls are wearing Christian Louboutin shoes (ENVY!)

My favourites from this lot is Kourtney & Kendall.

PS: Have to say I'm not a fan of Khloe's new hair. Think she looked too pale to pull this look off. I really think she'd suit red hair but just a slightly darker more auburn shade...What do you think?

Katy Perry in a Betsey Johnson dress. Sorry, love her to pieces, but the strapless, bright thing is getting a bit old for me.  Mrs Russell Brand took the lead this year with five nominations including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Song, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Web Celeb – winning Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Web Celeb honors.

Where's Blair Waldorf's sense of occasion?

Natalie Portman (newly engaged + pregnant!) wore a silk chiffon pleated dress from Jason Wu’s Pre Fall 2011 collection. I usually love her sense of style and I know she's pregnant but I feel this dress is a little too loose fitted/big on her, think she could have chosen something a bit more fitting and sexy?

Best & Worst: MTV EMA's 2010

The 2010 EMA's were held last night at La Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain. Looking at the photos that have started surfacing on the internet, I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with the Red Carpet Looks :( 

I know the MTV Awards are always a little more casual and alternative but I feel it's still a Red Carpet, so a little more effort would have been nice. Anyways, these are my quick Best & Worst picks of the night:

Rihanna looked stunning in a Marchesa gown!

Shakira looked fun, sparkly and glam. Pefect look for the MTV EMA's!

In recognition of her commitment and dedication to making education accessible for children around the world, Shakira received the MTV Free Your Mind award. Congrats :)

Can't quite make my mind up about Eva Longoria's black Georges Hobeik dress for the Red Carpet.  

It's quite different, which I like, but also maybe a teeny tiny bit short? Eva was the host of the Awards show. 

Taylor Momsen. Am lost for words to describe this look.....

I know she's a 'rock' chick & all but honestly what was she thinking (not to mention the fact she's only 17!)

Kesha in a 'Breeze' by KD T-shirt and some other weird stuff...

The singer took home the award for "Best New Act" & performed at the show.

My Faves of the 2010 Emmy's =

On 29 August, the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place in Los Angelos. I always love checking out all the glamourous outfits. Here are some of my favourite picks from the night:

Claire Danes looked AMAZING in a strapless Armani Privé gown

Think she was my absolute favourite of the event.

Heidi Klum is one "hot mama" in this black, textured mini by Marchesa 

Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries in a one-shouldered blush, floral, silk gown from Zuhair Murad's Fall 2010 couture collection. Stunning (wow her waist is teeny tiny right?)

Anna Paquin wore an Alexander McQueen gown, embellished with gold. I like it because it stands out and is a little different.  The bottom isn't super flattering but overall think she looks gorgeous.

Emily Blunt arrived on the red carpet in a one-shouldered Christian Dior gown — and with hubby John Krasinski in tow. Think this lavender dress looks so adorable on her. She looks radiant, pretty and happy! Must be that newly wed glow ;)

Jane Krakowski in navy one-shouldered Escada gown. Love the shape and shoulder detailing.

Oh how I'd love to be glammed up to the max & wear a SUPER DUPER expensive dress (matched with million dollar jewellery) for an event like this one day. Oh well a girl can dream right ;)
