Best Dressed: 2013 People & Critic Choice Awards

This week both the 2013 People's Choice & Critic's Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles. Here are my best dressed picks from the red carpet.

Emily Blunt is absolute perfection in this white Miu Miu dress! The back of the dress, the flawless makeup, the red lips and the glamorous hair...just WOW!

Lea Michele sparkled in this pink Elie Saab dress. The mix of lace and sequins is cute and the colour is just so fun. Her legs look smokin' hot and I really like the purple makeup (she even manages to pull off purple lashes!) to complete her look.

Taylor Swift was a sexy vision in white in this daring low plunging gown by Ralph Lauren. The dramatic bronze makeup and turquoise earrings completed her essemble perfectly.

How cute is Julianne Hough's sparky number! Her make up is impeccable and love her fun and messy bob hairstyle.

Noami Watts looked amazing at both award shows where she was nominated for Best Actress for her outstanding performance in the film The Impossible. I watched this movie on Sunday and admit that I haven't cried so much at a movie for ages! A very touching and intense story about the 2004 Tsunami; so if you go and see it (which I truly recommend you do) make sure you bring a box of tissues!

Jennifer Lawrence in a Prabal Gurung gown with leather detailing and a sheer train. Loved her edgy yet elegant look.

Two other honourable mentions needed are for Amy Adams and Helen Hunt. Both look beautiful. The white and navy Grecian high split gown is sexy and really compliments her lovely porcelain skin. Helen shines in red; the lace detailing is stunning and how incredible is her body for her age; she turns 50 this year!

Kate Hudson: Red Carpet Perfection at AmFar

How amazing does Kate Hudson look at the recent amFar Inspiration Gala in LA? She donned a sizzling red hot Prabal Gurung Resort 2013 gown, which showed off her banging post baby-figure!
It's probably one of my favourite looks I have seen on the red carpet for a while.

She completed the look to absolute perfection with a crescent necklace that nicely complemented the structural dress, a chic and pretty ponytail and a funky embellished clutch. And now let's talk makeup, I just adore her gorgeous bronzed smokey eyes!

As a blue eyed girl I have always found that bronze and coppery eye shadows really make my eyes POP so I can't wait to copy this stunning coppery look on myself! I am going out tonight so think will give it a go! Here is how to re-create this smokey eye:

♥ Line the inner rims of your eyes with bronze (or brown, if you don't have bronze) eyeliner.
♥ Apply a coppery bronze eyeshadow to your lid up to your crease and blend out gently. Also apply the bronze shadow quite heavily underneath your lower lash line.
♥  Dust a very soft shimmery pink/vanilla eyeshadow into the inner corner of your eye plus a smidgen above the folds of your eyes.
♥  To finish it off curl your lashes and put on your favorite va-va-voom mascara!
♥ And if you want a little more drama, smudge some black liner directly into your top lashes so it just looks like you have thicker lashes—not actually line of black on top.

Best & Worst: 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards

On Sunday the 64th Emmy Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles, awarding prizes to the outstanding comedy, drama, miniseries and reality programmes of 2012.

As always it was a great opportunity for the celebrities to shine on the red carpet, some more than others! Blue (in various shades) proved to be a popular colour on the red carpet and also yellow seemed to be a hit with the stars which is a quite a surprising bright colour for such an autumn event. Here are my best and worst picks of the night..

BEST

I loved Cat's scarlet gown and the shape and style fitted her perfectly. Julianne went for the mermaid look and I think she made it look very glamorous. Julie's neon yellow strapless gown seems to be a hit for some or a complete miss with others. I liked it, on photos it doesn't always do it justice I think because when I saw a live shot of her on the red carpet I just felt the fit and colour was beautiful and she looked so radiant, like a ray of sunshine! Emily got a lot of negative comments on this look; yes it is safe, yes it is a little boring because she is young and has a killer body but I personally liked the muted grey gown and think she's beautiful no matter what and she looks very elegant.

Heidi shows off some extreme 'Jolie leg' in this beautiful seafoam green couture gown, but with gams like that she can pull it off. January Jones is always something of a risk-taker when it comes to the red carpet but this gothic-glam gown by Zac Posen suits her beautifully and it shows that sometimes risks can pay off. Claire Danes flaunted her growing baby belly in a bright and bold dress by Lanvin. I think it's an interesting and chic take on a maternity dress and she looks stunning.

 

Homeland was actually the big winner on the night, taking home statues for lead actress (Claire Danes), lead actor (Damien Lewis) and outstanding writing in the drama category, as well as the outstanding drama award. I am completely addicted to this show so think the awards are well deserved!

 

WORST

Hayden looks a bit like she's going to a fancy toga party in this Grecian-inspired dress by Marchesa. I think remove the blue tule and it would have looked a lot better. Juliane; don't get me wrong I am loving the bright colour and it definitely takes a brave woman to wear that much yellow but unfortunately I don't think she shape of the dress is very flattering and it's all little too much with the long sleeves and long skirt. Ashley Judd, not much more to say than serious fashion crime. Ugly dress and the hair...sorry but what was her hairstylist on? Sadly Lena's black and lace Prada number looks boxy and does nothing to flatter her figure.

Lena Headey tries gothic-glam and fails. Kristen Wiig looks uninspiring to me; the hair too messy, the dress too casual and the whole look is just a bit blah! Alexandra of 'American Horror Story' striked some fierce poses on the red carpet but flashed a bit too much leg when her undies were on show! Even so, think the dress is unflattering and 'cheap' looking and not loving the hairstyle with this dress. Lucy Liu looks like a metal disco ball; a case of sequins gone wrong!

Best & Worst: Met Gala 2012 =

The Costume Institute Gala held at the New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is often referred to as the "fashion's Oscars"with famous faces from the big and small screens, the music industry, and the fashion world all stepping out in their finest. This year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art honours Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada in an exhibition which draws parallels between the two Italian designers. But on Monday night all eyes were on who rocked the best frocks at the launch party. Here are my personal best and worst picks of the event!

BEST

♥ Kate Bosworth in Prada. Kate’s two-tone flapper dress is just divine. 

Her effortless hair together with striking makeup make this my favourite the look of the night. 

♥ Gwyneth is showing off her amazing pins in this fun but classy short backless Prada dress.

♥ Emily Blunt looks stunning in this pink Calvin Klein dress. 

Its simplicity is very elegant plus I love the back, the colour and think it fits her like perfectly.

♥ Jessica Alba shines in this gold metallic Grecian gown by Michael Kors.

♥ Ashley Greene looks angelic in a Donna Karan Atelier white grecian dress.

♥ Emma Stone sparkled in a red satin dress with embroidered flowers made byAlber Elbaz for Lanvin.

She just looks super cute, glowing and love the fit and colour on her!

♥ Camilla Belle channels old school Hollywood glamour in Ralph Lauren. 

The dress also had a gorgeous low cut back and the dark lipstick really suits the overall look.

♥ Love January Jones in this sculptural lemon Versace gown with a vintage diamond-and turquoise necklace. 

Yellow is very in trend at the moment and January can definitely pull off this bright gown!

Backless dresses proved a popular look and these ladies definitely rocked it!

♥ Renee Zellweger goes all out in a black Pucci dress with a super-long train.

♥ Nina Dobrev in a black and silver Donna Karan Atelier

♥ Cameron Diaz sparkled in Stella McCartney

♥ Rihanna looked edgy and glamorous in crocodile dress from Tom Ford’s Autumn 2012 collection

♥ Karolina Kurkova in a sequin Rachel Zoe dress and turban.

Now onto the worst dressed of the night; to be honest there were quite a few so this is just a small selection....

WORST

♥ Coco Rocha in Givency. A bright pink pant suit…..with matching pink hair extensions and bright yellow top. What on earth was she thinking?

♥ Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte…..Booooorrrrrrrriiiinnnggggg and not red carpet appropriate!

♥Kristen Stewart, as the newest face of Balenciaga wears a dress by the fashion house by designer Nicolas Ghesquière. The dress isn't too bad but the combination with the shoes and the messy hair, fail!

♥ Eva Mendes in Prada. I love the colour but not a fan of the shape and design; its unflattering on her.

And no this is not me being jealous of her dating Ryan Gosling ;)

♥ Milla Yovovich's in Prada. Not loving the fringe and detailing on this dress.

♥ Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino. Frumpy and check out the the matching shoes, urgh!

♥ Jessica Biel in Prada. She is such a beautiful woman and this dress is nice, but c’mon Jessica you are young and stunning! I just would have liked to seen a bit more ‘oomph’ in her look!

♥ Leighton Meester, in Marchesa. The shade, the shape, the hair, the makeup…all of it. Fail.

♥ Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou. Don’t think an explanation is required here?

♥ Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs. 

Fashion forward and edgy but not quite the right look for an event such as the Met Ball. 

And as much as the Met Gala is a time to experiment with fashion; model Anja Rubik took experimenting to a whole new level on Monday night!

She showed up in a cream coloured satin dress by designer Anthony Vaccarello. The dress had a ridiculously hip-high split and cut-away chest holes. Maybe she was aiming for her hipbones to be an accessory. There had to be some magic tape holding that dress together to prevent a fashion mishap on the night. Some people seemed to love this look but for me it's just too much...or should I say too little? ;)

Best & Worst Dressed: SAG Awards 2012

The 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on Sunday night and all the stars came dressed to impress in couture. However, not everyone actually impressed me so here are my picks for the best and the worst of the night.

BEST

♥ Amber Heard oozed sexy in a very on-trend cut out black Zac Posen dress!
So HOT and love the edgy quiff hairstyle too. 

♥ Rose Byrne took a risk at the SAG Awards with this outfit which meant some people loved it and other hated it. For me the risk paid off because I think she looked amazing in this embroidered Elie Saab jumpsuit with structured shoulders.

♥ Stacey Keibler looked sophisticated in this stunning lace Marchesa gown. 

♥ Emily Blunt looked vibrant in this green Oscar de la Renta one-shoulder gown.

♥ Kyra Sedgwick showed off her flawless figure (at 46!!) in this cut-out fiery Pucci gown.

♥ Glee's Jayma Mays sparkled in a sweeping Reem Acra gown. 

Aside from the fabulous sequin-and-shine factor, the back of the dress features a black lace cut-out which was equal sweet and sexy. Total winner in my books :)

WORST

 ♥ Total failure of the night for me was Heather Morris in a black leather-trimmed Masai Payan dress with a sheer skirt. Hated everything; the dress, the clunky platform silver heels, the bulky bracelet, the hair and the long chandelier earrings. Such a shame, she is such a knock-out beauty :(

♥ Funny woman Kristen Wiig ruined an elegant Balenciaga gown with a bold choker necklace. 

What on earth was she thinking?? This outfit is the perfect case of accessories gone bad.

♥ Busy Philips tried to channel her inner Californian flower child in a blue floral gown by SIMONE by Katie Nehra. Wearing a print on the red carpet is a daring choice. Wearing a muumuu is an even worse choice. Think this look is more appropriate for a beach party rather than an awards show

♥ Newcomer 'The Descendants' actress Shailene Woodley should have left the floral print on set in Hawaii in this floral L’Wren Scott gown from the Spring 2012 collection. 

♥ Amber Riley in Badgley Mischka.
Sorry but the huge bow in the centre of her chest doesn't do her any favours!

♥ As much as I ADORE the mint green colour of this gown, Kaley Cuoco just didn't impress me in this Romona Keveza gown. Too much like a sweet meringue princessy look....but loving the hair though (just not with that dress)!

♥ Jenna Ushkowitz looks on-trend in a Rebecca Minkoff cut-out dress but am not a fan of the print and pleating and just think it looks a little 'bleh'.

♥ I almost didn't put Lea Michele on the worst dressed list because I do love the style and colouring of this Versace one-shoulder gown. It's uber glamorous and sexy BUT just think the slit-to her-waist is a little too much...sorry!

♥ Young and (normally stylish) Ashlee Simpson looks about 30 years older than she actually is in this slightly 'costumy' Jenny Packham dress.

Best & Worst of the Golden Globes 2012

On Sunday night annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. As the 2012 award season gets underway, the Golden Globes is the first chance for Hollywood's elite to set the red carpet trends for the upcoming year. Big winners 'The Descendants' and 'The Artist' took home multiple statues, but the awards for Best & Worst dressed are a whole other story. Take a look at my Golden Globes 2012 night's style winners and losers ...

Best

♥ The ever stunning Charlize Theron chose a slit-up-to-there Christian Dior Couture gown with an elegant bow in the front!

♥ Nicole Richie sparkled in a glittering column gown by Julien Macdonald and matched it with a clutch by her own label, House of Harlow.

♥ Love Heidi Klum’s simple (but with sexy open back) nude Calvin Klein dress. She accessorised it perfectly with beautiful turquoise jewellery to saves her Calvin Klein gown from being a washout!

♥ Angelina Jolie looked very elegant. The Atelier Versace dress could not have fit her better, and the red splash across the top made it stand out from other white and off-white gowns on the carpet.

♥ Salma Hayek oozed sex appeal in a strapless Gucci gown..

♥ Keeping her style simple, yet utterly elegant, Kate Beckinsale wowed in a stunning blush Roberto Cavalli chiffon and lace gown.   
♥ Best Actress in a Television Drama winner Claire Danes looked amazing in this black and white J. Mendel gown. An interestingly constructed dress plus the low-cut back made it an absolute winner in my books!   
♥ Evan Rachel Wood looked glamorous in sequined Gucci dress with real feathers on the bottom of the skirt. She looks a bit like a cross between a mermaid and a bird…but in a good way ;) It’s probably not something I would wear but it perfectly suits Evan Rachel Wood’s Hollywood glamour/gothic style.    
♥ Emma Stone showed off a modern way to wear red; with her maroon and fuchsia pleated Lanvin gown matched with a funky jewelled eagle belt buckle. I think she looked like a fashion superhero!

Worst

♦ I’m not a fan of Amanda’s tiered Marc Jacobs dress; too much ruffle and it looks a bit like the dress was made out of her grandma’s curtains?

♦ Natalie Portman seems to be channelling Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen prefer blondes here haha. I love the colours of the Lanvin gown but perhaps after you've recently lost a ton of baby weight this isn’t the most flattering of outfits…

♦ Kelly Osbourne doesn’t shine for me in this ill-fitting, pointy-shouldered Zac Posen dress. Wonder if she'll make her own ‘Fashion Police’ show's Worst Dressed List?

♦ Sarah Michelle Gellar said that her two-year-old daughter Charlotte picked out her tie-dye-style Monique Lhuillier gown. Just too much…I think the look would have been far more successful with a plain fabric!

♦ Jessica Biel in a long sleeve Ellie Saab dress. This gown looks a bit like it could be her grandmother's wedding dress from 1934? Jessica is so beautiful and I think something more modern and striking would have been more age appropriate :)

♦ Michelle Williams looks cute and quirky in this Jason Wu gown but for me the blue velvet dress is a bit too matronly and slightly boring..(Sorry I know lots of people loved this dress!)

♦ ‘Glee’ star Lea Michelle in an embroidered Marchesa illusion dress. Again she was on a lot of people’s best dressed list but it just didn’t do it for me!

♦ Giuliana Rancic arrived in a floor-length grey and black Monique Collignon gown which is simply unflattering. Nuf-said ;)

♦ Madonna disappointed in a cluttered green and pewter Reem Acra ballgown.

Best & Worst - Primetime Emmy's 2011=

The stars were out to celebrate the best of television at the 2011 Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre on Sunday (September 18) in Los Angeles. Here are my Best & Worst Picks of the red carpet!

Best

From left to right:

♥ Lea Michele, from Glee, in a stunning red dress with a low-draped back and rosette sleeves by Marchesa. The colour suits her beautifully & I adore the (slightly sexy) low back and shoulder detailing!!
♥ Julia Stiles went for a soft, feminine look in a strapless lilac gown by Georges Hobeika Couture. 

The dress fits her like a glove and the lace in this light colour matched with soft side swept hair and subtle jewellery just screams elegance. 

♥ Kelly Osbourne stepped out in a J. Mendel gown looking sophisticated and gorgeous. I am not normally a fan of her style but have to say the last 6 months or so she's been looking really good! The colour and shape of this dress really show off her amazing new figure! Not 100% sure on the strange hair colour plus a shame about the tattoo's but I still think she looked fab.

♥ Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara looks incredible in a curve-hugging coral one-shouldered crepe custom made gown by Vera Wang. She finished off the look with large striking emerald earrings. Love the colour, love the dress, love it all :)

On the fence...

I can't quite make my mind up on Gwyneth's outfit for the Emmys. She definitely shows off her amazing toned body in this black sparkly lace belly-baring dress by Pucci. I like it but then am also not sure on the exposed midriff section for such a glamorous event. Her hair and makeup is perfection however! Gwyn topped her daring dress with black and white 7 carat diamond earrings and two platinum and diamond bracelets totaling 100 carats and a ring of 5 carats - jealous much?! Hmm final decision, overall I think.....yes she pulls it off! Gwyneth, a hit or miss; what do you think?

Worst

From left to right:

★ Julianna Marguiles won Outstanding Actress for her role in The Good Wife but unfortunately she lost out on the red carpet! Stiff, old fashioned and bridal in Armani Privé. 

★ Heidi Klum in a gown designed by previous Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Too much ruffles for my liking. Heidi is so stunning and think this dress doesn't do anything for her amazing figure. 

★ Phoebe Price is one of those strange Hollywood girls who somehow gets invited to all these events despite the fact that no one knows who she is. Her floral dress looks like it was made out of her grandma's curtains and don't even get me started on the feathered fascinator or her makeup! 

★ Paz de la Huerta looked just TERRIBLE, was she deliberately trying to get on the worst dressed list or something? The dress itself isn't that bad but her overall look is just wacky, she looks like a zombie! I mean check out that crazy bird nest hairdo and the bizarre over-bronzed face makeup with grey (?) lipstick.  Total FAIL...

★ Katie Holmes looked a little too boring and casual for my liking in this ill-fitting cobalt Calvin Klein Collection dress by Francisco Costa. It almost looks as though she'd put it on back to front ;)

Teen Choice 2011 Awards =

On Sunday, August 7th, 2011 the Teen Choice Awards took place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. It was a night of hot teens, rockstars and heart throbs!
Here are quickly some of my favourite looks that rocked the ‘blue’ carpet!

♥ Rachel Bilson looked uh-mazing in a Chloé Resort 2012 collection dress matched with studded Brian Atwood booties. Love the mix of pretty vs edgy!
♥ Blake Lively showed off her gorgeous figure in a tight & bright dress from the Gucci Resort 2012 collection matched with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
♥ Kendall Jenner (the little sister of Kim Kardashian) star looked all grown up in an Aurelio Costarella dress, YSL shoes & a Kotur clutch. Think she will do well in the modelling world, she's very stunning.

♥ Cat Deeley showed off her beautiful gams with a long-sleeved, embellished turquoise shift.
♥ Kaley Cuoco, the Big Bang Theory actress (who hosted the show) in a Rebecca Taylor dress and Neil Lane jewels. Especially loved her hair and makeup.

♥ Selena Gomez rocked an Erin Fetherston dress and fellow fellow Disney star Demi Lovato brightened up the carpet in a BCBG Max Azria dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Demi's 'mullet' style dress (dress that is long in the back in short in the front) is THE trend of this season. Not sure if I am a fan of this trend yet; sometimes I like it (as in Demi's dress) and other times I think it can look a little odd.

On another note, it is Happy Hump Day!!

Today's quote is inspired by all the madness that has been going on in London since Sunday!
The looting, riots and violence around the streets is just so selfish, painful and scary to see :( I live in the Clapham area of London and the Clapham Junction streets were vandalised the other night (I didn't get much sleep - kept up by sirens and helicopters) and I know people that have personally been affected by the violence. All I can say is, I hope Karma is a bitch to all the people that are looting and causing harm and destruction to innocent people! Shame SHAME on you!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Red Carpet Style

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been all over the internet recently. This is because she is on the promotional tour for the premiere of the new Transformers movie: Dark of the Moon. She has taken over from Megan Fox to play Carly, the new love interest of Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) in the Transformers 3 film.

The 24-year-old Victoria’s Secret model and now turned actress certainly knows how to ROCK a red carpet. 
I suppose she's had plenty of practise from her years as a model on the catwalk and it seems that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is turning her movie red carpet outings into something of an art form. To me, Rosie is one of the most stunning models around at the moment. Her hair, makeup and outfits are always perfect. Glamorous and sexy but still very elegant!

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon will hit the big screen on Wednesday (June 29) in the United States and the UK. Do you think you will go see this movie? I saw the previous two and actually quite enjoyed them. Shia makes laugh and Josh Duhamel is yummy eye candy! :) xoxo

MTV Movie Awards 2011 - Best & Worst

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards were held at the Universal Studio’s Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (5 June) in California. I always like checking out the looks from the MTV Awards because they are a little bit more fun, young and trendy! Here are some of my Best & Worst pics of the event:

Best

♥ Blake Lively is beautiful in blue! She wore a Michael Kors dress & Louboutin shoes.
♥ Mila Kunis presented an awards on stage with Justin Timberlake wearing a Balmain black top and an embellished skirt from the Fall 2011 collection. As always, sexy, appropriate, fun and LOVE her makeup!
♥ Emma Stone in a sheer Bottega Veneta dress. She’s swapped from blonde to redhead for the upcoming Spiderman movie. I like both blonde and red on her really – she’s very beautiful.
♥ Emma Watson in an ivory jewel encrusted Marchesa short white dress. Emma’s got amazing style, love it!
♥ Brooklyn Decker sparkled on the red carpet in a gold No.21 dress! A little heavy looking on the top but am always a big sequin fan so still liked it lots!

♥ Hailee Steinfeld suited up in a Louis Vuitton tux with Christian Louboutin heels. It’s quite a grown up look for the 14 year old actress but I think it looked classy & loved the red lippy and green little clutch!
♥ Amber Lancaster in a sequin dress, not quite sure who she is but liked the dress and her wavy hair!
♥ Model Erin Heatherton in a cute white dress! Amazing legs and what a smile!
♥ Nina Dobrev looked cute and stylish in a Georges Chakra Couture ruby and bronze bow embroidered strapless dress. Spotted this on a few worst dressed lists and yes maybe it does look a little 'Christmas presenty' there's something about her look that caught my eye in a good way.
♥ Reese Witherspoon, gotta love her, dazzled at the ceremony in a black & great Vivienne Westwood dress that was age appropriate, fun yet sexy! Reese was honoured with the Generation Award. She’s the youngest recipient up to date! She fully deserves it though, Reese is one of my favourite Hollywood actresses!

Worst

★ Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr in an Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet jumpsuit. Too much going on for my liking and not very flattering. She's such a beautiful girl - a shame!

★ Amanda Bynes in an Herve Leger dress. Not sure what's going on with this girl, I thought she'd announced via Twitter she was retiring from Hollywood. I think the dress is a little too tight and short and not very flattering on Amanda. Plus the green Christian Louboutin shoes are really cool but what on earth was she thinking matching them with this dress. Total fail!

★ Bryce Dallas-Howard showed off her baby bump in a J.Crew dress. Didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it either!

★ Nicki Minaj. She’s got some electric and funky style which is great. It’s just not MY style haha.

★ Elle Fanning looked a little bit more festival than red carpet in a Dolce&Gabbana floral romper with matching (hideous) platform wedges.

Best of Cannes Film Festival 2011

From 11-22 May the Annual Cannes Film Festival took place in south of France. 
Here are some of my favourite looks from the FestivalRachel McAdams is white hot in a Maxime Simoens dress with floral accents at the photocall for her new movie, Midnight In Paris during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday. She also looked stunning in a sheer red dress by Marchesa at the festival opening ceremony. Two very different looks but both loved them!Bar Refaeli shows off her gorgeous gams in a Roberto Cavalli beaded and feathered champagne gown at the Amfar’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala on Thursday, which was held during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. She supported Roberto Cavalli again at the premiere of the movie 'The Beaver' looking amazing in a navy blue gown with embellished cut out designs by the designer.

Uma Thurman in a feathery white Versace dress. Loved the turquoise earrings with the soft but sexy white dress. Gwen Stefani rocked a really dark smokey eye but brightened it up with hot pink lipstick. The (very low cut) sequined black jumpsuit was funky and very a la Gwen! The ever elegant Diane Kruger in a golden Calvin Klein dress. Penelope Cruz showed off her amazing post baby body at the premiere of her latest movie 'the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' in a violet and gold Marchesa gown from their 2011 fall collection.

M.A.C BAFTA Runway to Red Carpet Event‏

Last week I was so lucky to be invited to a M·A·C BAFTA Runway to Red Carpet Master-class event! Because M·A·C is the official beauty partner to the Phillis British Academy Film Television awards taking place on Sunday 22 May at Grosvenor House in London, M·A·C Make-Up Artists from the M·A·C Pro Team will be on hand to provide make-up services to VIP's in town for the awards at the M·A·C Beauty Style Suite at Pelham Hotel in South Kensington.  

A group of us bloggers got an amazing look around the Beauty Suites and got to experience a style suite red carpet masterclass hosted by M·A·C senior artists, Lynsey Alexander & Neil Young. They demonstrated two contemporary yet iconic looks and shared many fantastic tips!

On the night I took some little video's while they were doing the make up and caught some great tips on camera which I wanted to share with you all: 

The finished looks; a modern bright pink lip called 'Show Orchid' & a bronze 'Antiqued' smokey eye!

Here even more top tips on creating stunning red carpet makeup and keeping it camera flawless all evening long! And even though you or I probably won't be attending a red carpet event any time soon haha, I think these tips are perfect for any girl that wants to create beautiful long lasting evening makeup looks:

♥ Lynsey Alexander on skin:

'For camera ready skin it's important to spend a bit of time prepping before you apply foundation. If you have time, exfoliating will ensure your skin is at its smoothest, allowing further products to glide on easily. Add a brightening serum before you apply moisturiser or alternatively a luminising cream such as M·A·C Strobe Liquid. Apply foundation to create a dewy glowing skin, my favourite is 'Studio Sculpt' foundation because it is gel based and acts like a second skin leaving a creamy satin finish on the face.  Set your base with a light sweep of M·A·C Mineralize SPF15 Loose Finishing Powder and make sure you have a blotting compact for touch ups (this will remove shine, without adding more coverage).' Lynsey Alexander

♥ M·A·C Senior Artist Caroline Donnely on highlighting:

'With intense flashes from the cameras on the red carpet the face can sometimes become 'bleached' out, flattening the features. Adding highlights to the cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bones works beautifully. Cult M·A·C product Strobe Cream when applied to the bridge of the nose adds a gorgeous glow as well as to the already mentioned areas'

♥ M·A·C Senior Artist Pablo Rodriguez on eyes:

'Eye makeup for red carpet is generally very neutral. Neutral meaning more brown and greys used rather than any other colour. This however does not mean natural. There is ALWAYS a glamour element to it, Sculpt the eye shape with long socket lines, and shading under the eyes too, M·A·C shadow in Wedge is a great shade to do this with.  Eyebrows must be groomed and defined, but still kept soft. M·A·C brow set in clear is a perfect tool to achieve this!' 

♥ M·A·C Senior Neil Young on Styling your makeup to your outfit:

'There are many ways to approach your makeup styling once you know what you are wearing. If the dress and hair reflects an iconic era then it makes a great statement to continue your makeup along the same theme. We see it often with regards to the classic red lip/brow and a chignon hair style. However try to keep the feel modern by considering texture as much as colour, to bring the makeup up to date and on trend. Be very cautious about matching makeup to the colour of the dress, more often than not a monochromatic makeup works best, so select tones that work with your dress rather than it match it exactly. Also remember, less is more! When the dress is already making a big statement, you can never go wrong with a classic contemporary makeup.'

I truly loved this event! It was fabulous to get one-on-one time with such talented senior makeup artists to be able to ask them questions and I ended up leaving feeling very inspired! :) Now I can't wait to see what looks M·A·C will be creating on the celeb's on May 22 at the BAFTA Awards. Best & Worst: Met Ball 2011

On the 2nd of May the annual Costume Institute Gala took place in New York City at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's also known as the Met Ball and it is pretty much the equivalent to the Oscars of fashion. You can check out my best & worst picks from the 2010 Met Ball here!

This year the famous and fashionable attended the Gala to honour the work of the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. After the Met Ball takes place , the Costume Institute at the Met debuts the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" exhibition from  4 May - 31 July, a complete retrospective of McQueen’s most beautiful and shocking works.

As you know I love checking out which stars rocked the red carpet and which bombed! So here are my best and worst picks of the event! :)

Best

From left to right:

♥ Gwyneth Paltrow exuded major hotness in a shimmering body-hugging gown from Stella McCartney

♥ Brooklyn Decker in Michael Kors. A simple dress but just LOVED the bright pink colour!

♥ Blake Lively in Chanel Haute Couture. She looks very elegant and the dress suits her new hair colour. 

♥ Ashley Olsen in black & cream vintage Christian Dior couture. Initially I didn't like this dress at all but it kind of grew on me and now I really like it; it's different but still glamorous and suits her style.

♥ Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stella McCartney. A stunning colour blue and I'm always a big fan of sequins...

♥ Ginnifer Goodwin in a custom made Topshop emerald green cutout dress. I love the fact that this dress is by Topshop. The green looks amazing on her & I think the hair, make up & jewellery suited the look perfectly! 

♥ Diane Kruger looks like a true Hollywood star in Jason Wu. So elegant yet also a little sexy. 

♥ Emma Roberts in Michael Kors. Simple but very modern & young which suits the 20yr old starlet!

♥ Dianna Agron in Michael Kors. Again quite simple but liked the red, the simple hair & accessories. 

♥  Sarah Jessica Parker in a fully beaded Alexander McQueen gown.

Worst

♥ Jennifer Lopez ruined her Gucci gown with flower-embellished sleeves, overcomplicating a beautiful dress!

♥ Serena Williams in Oscar de la Renta. Maybe she got too caught up with the Royal Wedding hype?

♥ Karolina Kurkova in Jean Paul Gaultier. I know lace is hot but this dress just doesn't do it for me! 

♥ Kristen Stewart in a Proenza Schouler gown. Boring, unflattering and ill-fitted. 

♥ Freida Pinto in Chanel Haute Couture. Is this supposed to be a mix of office fancy dress? Yuck..

♥ Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. Maybe she was trying to reflectt on her Addams Family days? 

Christina looks like she got tangled in a massive spider web...

♥ Chloe Sevigny in Proenza Schouler. Bad dress, bad hair, bad everything!

♥ Naomi Campbell in Alexander McQueen couture. It's hard to believe that this disaster dress was designed by the same woman behind Kate Middleton’s to-die-for wedding dress.
