Totally Fort Worth It?

When I was in America I picked up a new OPI nail polish that's described as “A shimmery lavender grey that’s so worthy of you.” Its Totally Fort Worth It is from their 2011 Texas collection.

In the bottle the polish looks like a grey with quite a strong pink shimmer through it but unfortunately when on your nails the shimmer hardly shows. This polish has quite a sheer formula meaning that it takes minimum 3-4 coats to get opaque cover. This is after 3 coats...

I found this nail polish a little underwhelming because I just was hoping for a grey with bit more oomph because of the pink shimmer but it turned out to be more a sheer shimmery silver.
So I thought what can I do to make my nails a bit more exciting? I know, add a Essie LuxEffects topcoat! Shine of the Times is a gorgeous multichromatic flaky glitter topcoat which shifts to every color except purple, but the most dominant colors are red/orange and green. There's a heavy amount of flake in here and it provides very good coverage with only one coat.

It's even more gorgeous in real life but the shine was hard to capture on camera.

I think Shine of the Times is a must-have top coat. It looks fabulously pretty on top light polishes or fun and edgy over darker shades. Have you tried any of these two polishes or can you recommend a great Shine of the Times combo? Xoxo

OPI Skull & Glossbones NOTD

I first spotted this nail polish on Laura’s blog (Buy Now, Blog Later check it out, it’s FAB) and then my little eyes were drawn to it again at the OPI store in Selfridges and I just knew I had to have it. 

I ended up buying it on e-bay (link!) for only £6.99 including free postage! 

Skull and Glossbones is a Limited Edition colour from OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean 2011 line. 

The collection contains seven shades. From left to right:

♥ Silver Shatter - a shimmering silver with a crackled, two-texture silver finish

♥ Skull & Glossbones - a gorgeous light gray

♥ Sparrow Me the Drama - a pink that means business

♥ Steady as She Rose - a dangerously seductive rosy pink

♥ Planks A Lot - a lust-worthy purple

♥ Strangers Tides - an unchartered sea of sage

♥ Mermaid’s Tears - a magical green

I wasn’t 100% sure how this would look on me, in fear of it making me look washed out, but surprisingly the nail polish compliments my (NC20) skin tone.I think this shade is a perfect greige (combination of beige and grey). It also has the slightest hint of green/sage that gives this polish that distinctive ‘dirty’ look at that colours in this collection seem to have. 

I love the look feel of this lacquer; it looks sophisticated and modern chic! 

The formula is creamy, goes on smoothly and opaque in two coats and has a lovely glossy finish.

Skull & Glossbones is neutral whilst eye catching at the same time! What do you think? Xoxo

NOTD: Love is a Racket

Hi my lovelies,Omigosh I am loving this late summer we are being blessed with in London at the moment. It's warmer and sunnier than it's been all actual summer! Check out a recent NOTD:

This is OPI's 'Love is a Racket'

This nail polish was released back in August as part of the Glam Slam USA duo by Serena Williams. Glam Slam! U.S. featured a duo-pack with two high-shine shades: shimmering red, Love is a Racket, and glittering bronze, Pros & Bronze. 

Applied smoothly, this was three coats. It's quite a bright red with a high shimmer (not glitter) factor.
It reminds me a bit of that shiny red cellophane paper you get around Christmas time!

They are my friends hands haha...I reckon she should be a hand/nail model ;)

Tickle my France-y?

Don't you just love OPI's polish names? 

This nail lacquer belongs to my friend but she gave me a fab manicure with it while in Italy!

I adore this colour because it's not your average nude, there's something about this color that makes it so unique. Think it's the pink/mauve undertones which make it so soft and pretty!

This polish is part of the 'La Collection De France'.

We applied 3-4 coats to get a smooth opaque finish. 

Great formula, easy to apply and check out that shine (no topcoat)!

Funny thing was that after my friend did my nails we were so surprised how the shade looked so different on my nails than on hers..her application was a few days old. Check out the difference; mine on the left and hers on the right! Mine is more pinky, hers more Taupe. Weird but actually love both shades :) This polish lasted on my nails for ages and loved it so much think I will need to purchase this polish for myself to add it to my collection. And are you ready for this confession...I think I may have found my holy grail nude polish!! xoxo

NOTD: Lucky Lucky Lavender

Wow, this week has been a little insane....I honestly can't believe it's Friday tomorrow already!! As you know I just got back from holiday on Sunday, which meant work has been pretty hectic; isn't that always the downfall of a holiday - when you come back you have SO much catching up to do? But on top that I am also looking for a new home at the moment to move into by the end of September, which is proving to be rather time consuming and a little stressful. I currently live in Clapham, which is south west London, but have decided to move north of the river to one of my favourite burbs in London: Notting Hill!! ♥ 

I am really excited but until I find somewhere, it's all a bit unsettling. However, I have faith and will keep smiling - I know things will work out :)

I have so many great posts lined up that I want to do at the moment but unfortunately I just haven't had the time to sort photos and write reviews this week. Therefore just posing a quick NOTD. My friend who I went to Italy with is quite the nail polish 'addict' so during the holiday every few days she would paint my nails with one of her many gorgeous polishes. Here is OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender:

I love this fun light lilac/pink lavender shade. I think this was either 2 or 3 coats.

You definitely need at least two coats to get a more opaque finish.

Koala Bear-y NOTD

Morning morning, it is Monday again which means back to the daily grind for me after such an amazing weekend in London! Of course it was my birthday weekend and therefore had many fun celebrations and good times with my friends. Pictures will follow of the good times and presents :)
But for now just sharing a quick nail of the day:

This is OPI Nail Lacquer in 'Koala Bear-y'
Love this raspberry pink/fuchsia shade. Perfect for summer :)

Think this nail polish was part of OPI's Summer 2007 Australian collection. The formula of this polish is a cremé, meaning there is no shimmer or glitter. It's pretty much opaque in one coat, which is great! And sooooo shiny. Definitely loving this polish, looking at my nails just makes me smile and brightens my day :) Hope you all had a lovely weekend too xoxo Roz 

Over the Taupe - NOTD

As you might know I am a big fan of any taupe/mushroom coloured nail polishes & one of my favourites is definitely Chanel – Particulière! Check out my post on that nail polish here. When my friend (& fellow nail polish lover) recently came to visit me in London she with had with her an OPI colour that is very similar to my beloved Chanel polish! Here is my Nail of the Day (NOTD) wearing OPI – Over The Taupe:

Over The Taupe is very similar to OPI’s - You Don’t Know Jacques (from their French collection) but it’s a little lighter and less brown and more taupe and mushroom! Over The Taupe was released in the summer of 2009 as part of an OPI Brights collection that was a collaboration between OPI and Paige Denim. Apparently there was a lot of fuss when this collection was released that Over the Taupe didn’t really belong in a collection of bright blues, pinks, orange and purples. I agree that it does seem slightly odd that a mushroom taupe was added in to a brights collection, but hey who cares, it’s a gorgeous colour! I just adore these kind shades on my nails. So chic and perfect for any occasion; for work but also still classy & glam for a night out! Needed about 2-3 coats to get a good opaque coverage but I used a basecoat and found that the polish lasted amazingly long!
Note to self – think I need to use base coats more often ;)

Elephantastic Pink

NOTD is OPI Elephantastic Pink 

Great texture, long lasting and I applied 2 coats with no streaking - Perfect!
Absolutely adore this pink polish. It is a bright carnation pink that almost has a tiny touch of a neon feel to it. Super girly and vibrant...wearing it makes me feel a bit like Barbie ;)

My Chihuahua Bites!

OPI’s My Chihuahua Bites is a crème from their Mexico collection & is my new HG red nail polish.
I recently got this polish online and am so glad I did! It's a highly pigmented gorgeous bright orangey-coral red colour. It think it's the perfect red for summer. Applies like a dream & so fun and fresh :)

OPI Drip Dry

**News Flash** No more bed sheet nails!! Painting my nails was always such a difficult task as I was bound to smudge them, knock them and especially wake up with duvet imprints on them. I am in love with this little lifesaver of a product.

All you do is paint your nails, wait 60 seconds and then use the pipette to drop some solution (1-2 drops) on your nail. Wait a couple of minutes and you're good to go. It's a simple as that. No mess, no fuss. My nails felt really smooth and hard after just having painted them rather than being tacky and sticky. As an added bonus, nourishing ingredients, vitamin E and jojoba oil keep nails in top condition. Believe me, you need this in your life! 

Senorita Rose-alita

NOTD is OPI Senorita Rose-alita. Their website describes it as a "rosy plum with a touch of golden charm". I think this a beautiful rose pink with a touch of gold shimmer to it. The polish has great consistency and was super easy to apply. I did 2 coats but even with 1 coat it already provided pretty good coverage. Definitely a new favourite!

NOTD - Java Mauve-A Nail Polish

Tried another one of my friends nail polishes last night. NOTD was Java Mauve-A Nail Polish by OPI.

It's called mauve, which I associate with more of a soft pink/purple neutral colour, but I personally find this nail polish to be more of a light brown. I like it, but I own Revlon "touch of mauve" myself which I prefer over this colour - will have to show that polish to you all sometime soon!


I am off to bed very early tonight because am getting up at 5.45am (YAWN!!!) tomorrow morning to drive to the Hawkes Bay for the weekend. Hawkes Bay is a very pretty region in NZ full of vineyards and beautiful scenery.
I am spending the weekend there with my BFF Char. She is currently living in the UEA and is visiting home for a wedding. I miss her so much when she's back in UAE so am very much looking forward to spending the weekend with her. I'll post some photos from the weekend when I get back! La Paz-itively Hot!

One of my best friends is a real nail polish fanatic and has quite the collection of colours. Her nails always look fabulous!! Ever since I started following blogs and now having my own blog, nail polish is something I am getting more and more interested in. My girlfriend has been super sweet to lend me part of her collection to try on to post on my blog - thank you, mwah!

Today I tried OPI's "La Paz-itively Hot" and OMG I am in love with this colour. This is now definitely on my own wishlist ♥ It's such a hot pink colour & just makes me feel very girly! 

Mod About You +

I was always reading about OPI's Mod About You nail polish on blogs so was really keen to try this colour myself. I have been looking for it for a while because a lot of shops didn't stock this particular colour. But lucky me found it in a shop this week so here it is! I agree with all the bloggers out there, am loving this colour. It is a gorgeous thick milky/pale pink.

PS: Excuse my nails. I know don't have the longest most gorgeous nails in the world. However, I used to bite them like MAD until I was about 18 so am proud of the little bit of nail that I do have :)
