Drinks at Schiller's in NYC

Hey everyone. I'm having the best time in New York....am seriously in love with this city. It is definitely true that this place never sleeps but I am feeling the effects of this after, so far already, three nights out in a row!! I'm going to be a very broken woman by the time I get back to London. Thought I'd quickly post a recent NYC outfit of the night from when we went out for a few drinks at Schilller's in the Lower East side.

Schiller's Liquor Bar is a uber-hip French American bistro by Keith McNally who is also the guy behind Balthazar in Soho, Pastis in the Meatpacking District, and Minetta Tavern in Greenwich Village. The vibe in this place is playful and funky; for example, their wine list has three categories: cheap, decent and good ;) However we opted for some yummy cocktails instead. This is a really fun place for dinner or late-night drinks!

A sparkling night out $

When I was in Italy at the beginning of July, we kicked off the wedding celebrations with a fun Bachelorette/Hens party for the bride to be! The theme was 'Sex & the City' which basically meant a chance to glam up and sparkle! I own this incredibly sparkly dress that I adore but never get a chance to wear because it's so in your face and when you wear it you pretty much become a walking disco ball. I bought it quite a few years ago of a friend back in Australia for a ball and have only been able to wear it a couple of times since. It is by Australian designer Ruth Tarvydas from her signature collection.

The 'Metallica' dress is made of silk with hand sewn metal sequins all over. It has a racer back and a drawstring waist. It's deliciously special to wear and as you walk the metal sequins jingle! (link)

I love the messy curls it produces...but my hair does look slightly frazzled in these photos because on the walk from the hotel to the lakefront we got caught in a massive rain storm!!

For the party us girls headed to the town of Bellagio to a 'beach bar' for drinks, food and a good boogie!

At the stunning beach bar overlooking the lake! Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with us that evening because it rained quite a bit but we sure didn't let that dampen our night of fun!

Lady in coral: a night out in Paris $

Here a recent outfit of the night while I was in the beautiful city that is Paris. After a day of being out and about in the city, we got back to my friend's apartment, put on some sounds and poured ourselves a nice cold glass of champagne to get ready for a summery Parisian night out! I love getting ready with girlfriends...it's almost one of my favourite parts of going out :) Once we were all ready I asked my friend if she could take some quick pictures of me....welcome to the life of a blogger...

She suggested we go down to the street to take the photos outside her place. Well doing that we definitely put on a good show for everyone! Here I am standing 'posing' outside a busy restaurant with all the dining guests looking at me the whole time thinking, what on earth are those girls doing (cringe...)!!

But we decided who cares and just had fun with it! 

So as you can see the life of a blogger is full of good times ;)

I love the padded shoulders and cut of this dress! I remember picking it up from a sales rack at Selfridges and immediately falling in love the colour (to be expected with coral being my favourite colour and all). However, I wasn't convinced it would look any good on because on the hanger it looked shapeless and thought it might look a bit like a 'sack' on me but I ended up pleasantly surprised when I tried it on and realised it actually was a lovely fit! Short and sexy but not too revealing or tight :)

Love this photo...just wish it wasn't blurry! But still put it up because reflects a real happy moment :)

We decided to continue the fashion shoot on the balcony for some more fun photos...

 After a few glasses of champagne it was definitely time for dinner. Luckily, we had a booking for the amazing Brasserie Thoumieux which is by top French chef Jean-François Piège.

Everything on the menu looked so delicious it was hard to chose!

But in the end I decided on a beautiful piece of entrecôte with pommes!

It was the perfect accompany to my champagne ;)

Happy New Year!

Wow another year has passed by so quickly and now 2012 is here :) I had a great New Years Eve celebration in Berlin with a group of friends but definitely feeling the hangover today! For me 2011 has been all about my girlfriends. My lovely existing friends but also some fantastic new friendships. I love them all to pieces so a big thank you is due to all my girls for making 2011 such a great one! ♥

One of my New Years resolutions is to start running and sign up for say a 10km run! Do you have any New Years resolutions this year?  Here a few pictures of my NYE celebrations last night but now I'm going to bed to sleep off this hangover ;)

Metallic Kimono Outfit Post =

Ever since I saw Laura in this metallic kimono on her blog 'Buy now, Blog Later' I was keen to get my little paws onto it! Kimono cardigans are pretty on trend at the moment so when I spotted this little beauty in ZARA whilst shopping in Nice and tried it on, I was sold. 

This weekend I had my friends round for flat warming drinks in Notting Hill and I wanted a casual but fun evening look so I decided to wear my new kimono :)

Actually a funny story is that when I returned from Nice and I showed my flatmate my kimono purchase, it turned out she recently had bought the exact same one, wooops! Haha oh well it shows we both have fab taste right? Now we do just need to make sure we don't wear it at the same time ;) 

Here some more pics of me at my flat warming drinks which shows you the proper colour of the kimono a little better. It's a mix between silver and gold and so comfortable to wear.

I'm loving my new metallic kimono because it's so easy to throw on with jeans or a LBD to add that little bit of sparkle! What do you think of the Kimono trend? xoxo

A night out in Public $

Hey everyone,
Back in August, during my 'birthday celebrations weekend' (Omg I can't believe that's already a month ago) me and my friend Lulu went out for a night of fun in Chelsea. We were meeting some friends at a nightclub called Public, which is usually pretty hard to get into (unless you book a table!) but because we knew some people that were already inside, we were able to smooth talk our way in - YAY!

Makeup wise I went for a grey shimmery smokey eye:

I created this look using my Bobbi Brown Chrome Palette but you could easily copy this shimmery grey eye with any other grey and silvery eyeshadows (for example with Urban Decay Gunmetal e/s or MAC Pandemonium e/s)

Forget makeup however, more importantly was my outfit of the night!!! I'd been out and about shopping with Lulu that same day in Notting Hill and after lunch at one of my favourite places; Nicole Fahri's '202' cafe we browsed around the amazing shop that is in the basement of the cafe. This shop sells the most beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories but it's more window shopping because the stuff they sell is normally quite a bit above my price range. BUT on this occasion we spotted a sales rack....and in this sales rack was this amazing dress.....Ok I think you can tell where I am going with this.....I just had to try it on and yes..again you guessed it - I just HAD to buy it because it looked so-so good! These were Lulu's words not mine, but hey who was I to disagree? haha.

OK now to the shock factor of this little story....the original price of the dress was........are you ready.......£660!!!! Yes I would call that MEGA expensive, eeeeeek! Thank goodness the dress was on sale and discounted by 70% which made it £198. Still not cheap I know, but I just loved it so much I felt it was an 'opportunity' I couldn't resist. Bet you are curious about this dress now!

The dress is from an Italian brand called DROMe that specialise in leather fashion! The dress I got is a grey/metallic snake-print fitted leather dress with capped sleeves, a round next and back zip fastening.

We had such a fun silly night out! The music was great so we boogied the night away and met this group of crazy guys that were on a stag do and which were a right laugh :)

LOL! Looking back on these pics now brings back such fun memories but also makes me miss my Lulu which is back in the Netherlands and me in London!  I say she should visit again soon, do you? ;) xoxo

A night to remember..

On my holiday in Italy I had many great evenings, but one night me and my friend went out for a super 'romantic' dinner at Cafe Positano. This is an lovely restaurant, located higher in the town of Positano. Sitting on the outdoor terrace you can admire the splendid panorama of Positano.

I got this dress in London from the shop Oliver Bonas; but the dress is actually from the brand Vera Moda. I was just browsing with a friend and spotted it in the sales rack, pulled it out, had to try it on and was blown away by it. Lucky me it was the perfect size and only £19! I love how it is long, chiffon, flowy. It has little ruffles at the front neckline and a low V shaped back.  

Makeup wise I used my trusted Urban Decay Naked Palette:

I applied the shade 'Toasted' all over the lid, then on the outer third and lower lash line I applied 'Gunmetal' and I used a mix of 'Buck' and 'Naked' to blend out and soften the crease. Some black eyeliner in the water line and a bit of mascara on the lower lashes (still loving my lash extensions!) On my cheeks I am wearing NARS Orgasm and on my lips a Lancome Juicy Tube in Marshmallow Electro.  The earrings were a birthday gift by a friend of mine - she got them for me in St Tropez! 

This is me at the restaurant; we had such a FAB and yes 'romantic' evening...

The whole restaurant was filled with couples and then me & my girlfriend. 

But you know what, I had the best night with her and wouldn't change it for the world :)

Birthday Fun!

As promised, here is my post about all the birthday fun I had last Thursday. On August 4, I turned 27 (wow time does truly fly when you are having fun) and I had a GREAT day! I did have to work that day but I didn’t mind. Growing up my birthday was always right smack bang in the middle of summer holidays which was awesome because got to celebrate it in another country with my family whilst on holiday, but it did mean you always had to have your ‘party’ way before or way after the holidays which didn’t make it quite so relevant if you know what I mean. After my day at work where I was treated to cake, blowing out candles and being sung happy birthday to, I headed home to quickly get changed to meet my girlfriends in Clapham (South West London) for a lovely night out. We had wine, an amazing dinner, following by the yummiest cupcakes made for us my my friend and then headed out for a few cocktails.

Outfit wise I was wearing a dress I had picked up in the ZARA sale recently for only £29! I haven't really worn anything that green before, but got lots of compliments so I am glad I got it! And yes...I am wearing my new Tiffany & Co silver ball earrings!

I spotted this jacket at ZARA in Stockholm and immediately fell in love with it & knew I had to have it! It's a lovely stylish blazer, that can glam up any casual outfit. It's got this cool rough woven fabric that has a mix of colours like silver, grey, white, a little gold plus even a tiny pink/orange thread which means you can wear it with lots of different outfits. I think the blazer looks very classic and expensive and it even reminds me a bit of designs by Isabel Marant.

I struggled to photograph the true colours of the fabric but hope this gives you an idea. Love the zips too, they give the jacket that bit of an edge! I wore this outfit recently when I was back home catching up a friend in Amsterdam, doing some shopping and afterwards we headed to a drinks party at a friends house.

Am a little annoyed with myself however; when I tried on the black pants in Stockholm they fitted like a glove and I was like woooohooo BUT see this is my usual error! I should not buy pants that fit perfectly in the store, because (duh roz) pants stretch! Urgh, so I really love these trousers but now after wearing them 2-3 times, they've become all loose and saggy boohooo :( Will I ever learn?

Fashion & Tennis at the Pre-Wimbledon Party 2011

Back in June (yes this post is a little late) I was very very very lucky to get an invite to the WTA Tour Pre-Wimbledon Party held at The Roof Gardens in London. This yearly event, hosted by Richard Branson has become quite the highlight for tennis stars and celebs to celebrate the kick off of the Wimbledon season.

When I received the invite, through a close friend of mine, I was so estastic and knew I had to find myself the perfect dress to wear. So out shopping I went! I ended up finding this uh-mazing dress at All Saints. Sparkly, one shoulder, mini aka sexy but glamorous....L.O.V.E.D it!! Priced at a (whopping) £295, I knew it wasn't cheap but I felt for this one-of-a-kind party, I needed a one-of-a-kind dress.

To prepare myself for the event, I ended up getting my makeup done at MAC in Covent Garden. Just for fun and convenience because it only costs £25 which is redeemable in products (recommend doing this!)

You can view a copy of the MAC facechart here that shows the list of the products used by my makeup artist . Because my dress was going to be so 'in your face sparkly' I didn't want to go for anything too dramatic on the eyes but focus more on a lovely glowing look with peach/gold accents. My MAC makeup artist thought it would be nice to dark rim the eyes and make them pop that way. You like?

So then after getting my makeup done, I headed to my friends house (who was also coming to the event) to get changed, snap some pictures in our outfits and have a quick drink before making our way to the venue. See me/us looking all glammed up ready to go & party it up with the tennis stars and celebs!

However, right before we were about to leave in a taxi to the event.....disaster struck! The great 'concealed side zip' of my brand new dress BROKE. Yes broke! So there I was stuck in a dress that left me completely exposed and there was nooo way to fix the zip (I even had to wiggle myself out of the dress to get it off!) I was SO SO gutted. I'd bought this special, not very cheap, dress for this specific event and I now had nothing to wear because this dress was the only outfit I'd taken to my friends house.

My sweet friend managed to calm me down and we went through her wardrobe to find me a replacement dress to wear. Luckily she had this lovely black, long sleeve, sequin dress (from REISS) that fit me so I ended up wearing that to the party. I looked nice, dont get me wrong, but it did ruin my night a wee bit! It was definitely a night where the worlds of tennis, fashion and celebrity colided. Not only were the best in women's tennis wearing the best of quintessential British fashion design, but a large amount of celebrities also graced the Kensington Rooftop Gardens (which is an amazing club/restaurant in London)

The WTA partnered with the British Fashion Council to connect players with British designers, who provided them unique styles for the night. Some of the players in the group were Caroline Wozniacki (who wore Stella McCartney), Serena Williams (Burberry), Maria Sharapova (Alexander McQueen), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (David Koma), Ana Ivanovic (Matthew Williamson) and Jelena Jankovic (Vivienne Westwood). Celebrities including Eliza Doolittle, Holly Branson, Kimberly Wyatt, Naomi Harris, Alex James, Henry Holland, Alexis Jordan, Holly Valance, Tali Lennox, Patsy Kensit, Lord Sugar and Tinie Tempah joined the tennis players at the exclusive bash. I have to say, it was pretty crazy to be in the same room as all these well known people, but it definitely made for some great people watching while sipping on champagne! One of my favourite outfits I spotted that night was actually Holly Branson, who wore a super cute white & blue sequined shift dress. To see more red carpet looks from the event see click here or here. 

Overall it was a FABULOUS night! Free drinks, free food, celeb spotting, an amazing venue & fun times on the dance floor :) The next day however, an angry me went back to an All Saints store to return my broken dress. They gave me a full refund but was still a little disappointed over the wardrobe malfunction from the night before. I didn't exchange the dress for a new one because felt I'd bought it for this party & wouldn't get that much wear out of it. A shame..but hey in the end I still had an amazing time!
