My NYE Sparkly Smokey Eye Makeup

This year my NYE celebrations weren't anything too crazy and wild but more a local, fun low-key affair! With a group of my dear friends, we had booked several tables to enjoy a delicious set course NYE dinner at The Oak, accompanied by a few glasses of bubbly of course. The Oak is a cosy restaurant in Notting Hill and upstairs they have a great bar, where we ended up dancing until the wee hours on the first day of 2013.

Outfit wise I was wearing my Zara combined leather look dress (as seen here) accessorised with a H&M bejewelled bib collar necklace. So for my makeup I wanted a dark smokey eye but with a bit of sparkle because New Years is the one night where glitter is always acceptable :)

Christmas Party - 1920s Inspired Makeup

December is always a month full of parties and events which is great because it often gives you an excuse to dress up or sparkle in your best outfits! A few weeks ago we had my office Christmas party and this year it was 1920’s themed. It wasn’t meant to be a very strict theme but it encouraged everyone to make an effort to look old school glamorous! Most people straight away started planning ‘what to wear’ but as a typical beauty blogger my main focus was on how I wanted my makeup to look for this party. After googling for 1920’s beauty inspiration I came across this image (link) of Charlize Theron which I absolutely loved so I decided to go for a very dark berry lip with a nude/rustic look for my eyes.

On my lips I'm wearing Berry Vamp by LookBeauty from their Loud Lips range. The packaging of this lipstick is a bit cheap but the colour is really stunning and the fomula is smooth, highly pigmented and long lasting. Not bad for only £7 (link) I have changed from being more of a sheer lip gloss girl to quite loving a darker lip – what do you think of this lip shade?

Jewellery wise I kept it simple and wore these vintage clip-on earrings that used to belong to my grandmother! My hair was done by the lovely Jess from Powder Puff & Pin Curls, who specializes in vintage hair-do's! She came to our office and did the hair of about ten ladies to get us all looking in style for the 1920's party. I will post some more photos of the party in another post :)

Dress wise; I couldn't seem to make up my mind and with December being so busy, I just hadn't had time to find the perfect outfit! Until last minute that was,  because the night before the party I saw this dress in Zara and it was love at first sight! I didn't own a long black evening dress yet so I felt it was a much needed addition to my wardrobe ;) The dress is part of the new collection by ZARA as seen here in their Woman Lookbook Twelve. I adore this recent collection by Zara, it is so classic and elegant.

The dress falls beautifully and the fabric is very soft and pretty. I love how the added touch of the lace in the back makes it that little bit sexier whilst remaining classy. For me, it was the perfect Christmas party dress and I really liked my slightly different to usual look! What do you think of my 1920s inspired look?

Lips: MAC & Marcel Wanders lipgloss in 'Julia'

The product I am absolutely loving at the moment to give me this 'glowy' look is my Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow all over Radiance Crème. I'd read many raving reviews about this product so I finally decided to add it to my makeup collection, and oh boy, am I glad I did!

Multi-purpose and versatile, Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Crème is a light-diffusing crème for lustrous skin. Wear all-over the face, under or over foundation or simply on bare skin. It has the added moisturising agent Jojoba to protect and hydrate your skin. It comes it two shades; 01 - Iced Gold and 02 - Rose Gold. I went for Iced Gold for more of a cold/golden glow. 

This is the product swatched on my hand. 

As you can see it creates the loveliest natural sheen; a true shimmer not glitter!

I normally apply the crème on top of my liquid foundation on my cheekbones, the bridge on my nose, as a brow highlight plus a tiny bit on my lip cupid's bow. You only need a small amount and the creamy texture is so easy to apply, I either dot it on with my fingers or use a small stippling brush. This is definitely my favourite highlighter at the moment!

MAC Reflects Antique Gold is one of my favourite MAC Pro products! The shade is a beautiful dusty brown gold glitter that looks like diamonds on your lids. This glitter is more fine milled than MAC's regular glitters and therefore manages to look more 'natural' and gives your eyes an elegant 'bling' factor instead of looking like cheap chunky child-like glitter.

You do need a good base to apply the glitter onto to ensure it sticks. I often use use a MAC Paintpot  (Blackground in this look, but you can use any kind of creamy based eyeshadow) on the lid and then gently pat the glitter with my finger op top. Yes there will be some fall out, but hey it's glitter you are working with so that is to be expected.  You can also use this glitter as a eyeliner or all over eyeshadow for a more 'foiled' look if you apply it wet with a mixing medium (like MAC Fix+).

I just adore this glitter! It adds a very sparkly amazing pop to your eyes and a little added pretty WOW factor for a night out :) I used to buy 1/4 teaspoon samples online (via eBay) of the glitter until I managed to order a full sized jar in via a pro MAC store. A little goes a long way so even a small sample will last you ages and I am sure my full sized jar will provide me with a lifetime full of sparkle!

Doesn't she have the most gorgeous big eyes? I think this light purple smokey eye looks amazing on her. I used to get quite nervous about doing my friends' makeup, because I am by no means a professional makeup artist but over time I have gained more confidence in my 'skills' and I just love seeing the end result by bringing a smile to their faces and making them feel beautiful, sexy and confident!

We had a great night out with some very funny moments! Ranging from crazy snow fights, hilarious conversations in bars to scoffing down banana bread in the kitchen after coming home in the early hours of the morning.

Blue Smokey Eye FOTN $

A couple of weekends ago I went out for dinner and a few drinks (and ok maybe a boogie too!) in South Kensington with some friends. Back in September I'd bought this navy, lacy and slightly sparkly lowcut back dress from Trafaluc by ZARA so I decided a blue smokey eye would accompany this look perfectly.

Bronze summery night look with a pop of aqua! #

Hey my lovelies,

This is another look of the night from my holiday in the Amalfi Coast back in August (pictures here).

We had been at the beach all day and I felt like a bronzed, summery and fun look! I wore this zebra/tiger like kaftan which has a lovely bright blue stone on it so I decided to incorporate the blue into my makeup too :)

The kaftan I bought about 3 years ago while on holiday in greece. It's more of a beach cover-up really and therefore very see-through, but when you match it with a nude slip underneath it's suitable for a summery evening out.  The hair...quite messy after a day at the beach so decided to braid the front to deal with the 'out of control' side fringe. A night out in Public $

Hey everyone,
Back in August, during my 'birthday celebrations weekend' (Omg I can't believe that's already a month ago) me and my friend Lulu went out for a night of fun in Chelsea. We were meeting some friends at a nightclub called Public, which is usually pretty hard to get into (unless you book a table!) but because we knew some people that were already inside, we were able to smooth talk our way in - YAY!

Makeup wise I went for a grey shimmery smokey eye:

I created this look using my Bobbi Brown Chrome Palette but you could easily copy this shimmery grey eye with any other grey and silvery eyeshadows (for example with Urban Decay Gunmetal e/s or MAC Pandemonium e/s)

Forget makeup however, more importantly was my outfit of the night!!! I'd been out and about shopping with Lulu that same day in Notting Hill and after lunch at one of my favourite places; Nicole Fahri's '202' cafe we browsed around the amazing shop that is in the basement of the cafe. This shop sells the most beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories but it's more window shopping because the stuff they sell is normally quite a bit above my price range. BUT on this occasion we spotted a sales rack....and in this sales rack was this amazing dress.....Ok I think you can tell where I am going with this.....I just had to try it on and yes..again you guessed it - I just HAD to buy it because it looked so-so good! These were Lulu's words not mine, but hey who was I to disagree? haha.

OK now to the shock factor of this little story....the original price of the dress was........are you ready.......£660!!!! Yes I would call that MEGA expensive, eeeeeek! Thank goodness the dress was on sale and discounted by 70% which made it £198. Still not cheap I know, but I just loved it so much I felt it was an 'opportunity' I couldn't resist. Bet you are curious about this dress now!

The dress is from an Italian brand called DROMe that specialise in leather fashion! The dress I got is a grey/metallic snake-print fitted leather dress with capped sleeves, a round next and back zip fastening.

After my day at work where I was treated to cake, blowing out candles and being sung happy birthday to, I headed home to quickly get changed to meet my girlfriends in Clapham (South West London) for a lovely night out. We had wine, an amazing dinner, following by the yummiest cupcakes made for us my my friend and then headed out for a few cocktails.

Outfit wise I was wearing a dress I had picked up in the ZARA sale recently for only £29! I haven't really worn anything that green before, but got lots of compliments so I am glad I got it! And yes...I am wearing my new Tiffany & Co silver ball earrings!

Fashion & Tennis at the Pre-Wimbledon Party 2011

Back in June (yes this post is a little late) I was very very very lucky to get an invite to the WTA Tour Pre-Wimbledon Party held at The Roof Gardens in London. This yearly event, hosted by Richard Branson has become quite the highlight for tennis stars and celebs to celebrate the kick off of the Wimbledon season.

When I received the invite, through a close friend of mine, I was so estastic and knew I had to find myself the perfect dress to wear. So out shopping I went! I ended up finding this uh-mazing dress at All Saints. Sparkly, one shoulder, mini aka sexy but glamorous....L.O.V.E.D it!! Priced at a (whopping) £295, I knew it wasn't cheap but I felt for this one-of-a-kind party, I needed a one-of-a-kind dress.

To prepare myself for the event, I ended up getting my makeup done at MAC in Covent Garden. Just for fun and convenience because it only costs £25 which is redeemable in products (recommend doing this!)

You can view a copy of the MAC facechart here that shows the list of the products used by my makeup artist . Because my dress was going to be so 'in your face sparkly' I didn't want to go for anything too dramatic on the eyes but focus more on a lovely glowing look with peach/gold accents. My MAC makeup artist thought it would be nice to dark rim the eyes and make them pop that way. You like?

So then after getting my makeup done, I headed to my friends house (who was also coming to the event) to get changed, snap some pictures in our outfits and have a quick drink before making our way to the venue. See me/us looking all glammed up ready to go & party it up with the tennis stars and celebs!

However, right before we were about to leave in a taxi to the event.....disaster struck! The great 'concealed side zip' of my brand new dress BROKE. Yes broke! So there I was stuck in a dress that left me completely exposed and there was nooo way to fix the zip (I even had to wiggle myself out of the dress to get it off!) I was SO SO gutted. I'd bought this special, not very cheap, dress for this specific event and I now had nothing to wear because this dress was the only outfit I'd taken to my friends house.

My sweet friend managed to calm me down and we went through her wardrobe to find me a replacement dress to wear. Luckily she had this lovely black, long sleeve, sequin dress (from REISS) that fit me so I ended up wearing that to the party. I looked nice, dont get me wrong, but it did ruin my night a wee bit! It was definitely a night where the worlds of tennis, fashion and celebrity colided. Not only were the best in women's tennis wearing the best of quintessential British fashion design, but a large amount of celebrities also graced the Kensington Rooftop Gardens (which is an amazing club/restaurant in London)

The WTA partnered with the British Fashion Council to connect players with British designers, who provided them unique styles for the night. Some of the players in the group were Caroline Wozniacki (who wore Stella McCartney), Serena Williams (Burberry), Maria Sharapova (Alexander McQueen), Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (David Koma), Ana Ivanovic (Matthew Williamson) and Jelena Jankovic (Vivienne Westwood).  I thought Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic looked stunning!

Celebrities including Eliza Doolittle, Holly Branson, Kimberly Wyatt, Naomi Harris, Alex James, Henry Holland, Alexis Jordan, Holly Valance, Tali Lennox, Patsy Kensit, Lord Sugar and Tinie Tempah joined the tennis players at the exclusive bash. I have to say, it was pretty crazy to be in the same room as all these well known people, but it definitely made for some great people watching while sipping on champagne! One of my favourite outfits I spotted that night was actually Holly Branson, who wore a super cute white & blue sequined shift dress. To see more red carpet looks from the event see click here or here. 

Overall it was a FABULOUS night! Free drinks, free food, celeb spotting, an amazing venue & fun times on the dance floor :) The next day however, an angry me went back to an All Saints store to return my broken dress. They gave me a full refund but was still a little disappointed over the wardrobe malfunction from the night before. I didn't exchange the dress for a new one because felt I'd bought it for this party & wouldn't get that much wear out of it. A shame..but hey in the end I still had an amazing time!

We'll always have Paris =

I'm still dreaming of my amazing time in Paris last weekend! So I thought I'd share my outfit and makeup of one night out partying in Paris. Me and my friend got ready at her place (me doing our makeup of course) and then we headed out to cafe Germain in the 6th arrondissement of the city.  There we had champagne, some dinner and my all time favourite dessert in the whole world! 

Which is.....moelleux au chocolat. It's also known as chocolate fondant or chocolate lava cake. Basically me + warm runny chocolate cake served with a dollop of cold icecream = a very very very happy Roz!

Because it had been such a lovely sunny day I decided to wear a short bright dress with gold makeup:

♥ Face of the night:

I used the Urban Decay NAKED palette to create my look that evening. I applied half baked all over the lid and then used smog in the crease and along my lower lash line. Followed by black winged liquid eye liner and a few coats of NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara (which I am loving at the moment!) I finished off my golden look with Estee Lauder Lipgloss in Impulsive Coral (#20)

Strapless dress by ZARA, from the TRF collection - get it here for £29.99. My friend & I both fell in love with this cute dress (so I bought it in watermelon pink/red and she got it in turquoise!)
